How are hearing impaired people warned that the fire alarm has been activated? BS5839 part1 2002 states "...Additional means of giving warning to people with impaired hearing might be appropriate" This is very important if a hearing impaired person MIGHT visit, work in, or sleep in the premises. |

CH/FC1-SThe Ch/FC1-S has been extensively tested to detect operation of a commercial fire alarm sounder. The monitor is for use in hotel rooms that have a sounder fitted in the room. A fire alarm sounder should produce 75db of sound at the bed head. The CH/FC1-S will detect such a sounder while ignoring ambient sounds in the room such as TV, radio, people talking, arguing etc up to a sound level of 85db measured at a 1m range. Operation of the alarm is simple. The CH/FC1-S is mains powered via an AC/DC adaptor that is plugged into a mains outlet in the room. The warning alarm is positioned by the bed, then the vibrating pad is placed under the pillow or mattress. That is it. No costly installation, no wiring and no decor damage. If the fire alarm goes off, the CH/FC1-S detects the sounder, the vibrating pad and xenon strobe operate to warn the deaf person. The alarm features battery back up with circuit monitoring indication for power failure or adaptor unplugged and sound monitoring circuit failure.
